Horseshoe lake is a popular destination close to the town of Jasper, and for good reason. It has walking trails for you to walk the perimeter of the lake, there are a ton of spots where you can set up for the day and just enjoy the scenery, it is close enough to the parking lot that a paddle board could be brought in, and there are cliffs that people regularly use to jump into the water on hot summer days. This is a turquoise paradise that is easier to enjoy when it is less busy on the cusp of the busy summer. If you do want to visit this mountain paradise in July or August, I recommend packing a bag for the day and leaving early! Find the trail access and details on All Trails. Our favourite place to stay nearby is at year round Jasper Park Lodge, its dog friendly, has amenities right on the resort like ice skating (skates) and snowshoes in the winter. In the summer they have canoes/kayaks, stables, bikes and their world renowned golf course. They offer child and dog care too which we love, it is all around a great place to stay. Pyramid Lake Resort is another great dog friendly option in the area. We really love Pyramid Lake because of its proximity to the Town of Jasper and there is opportunity to paddle right on this resort as well when you get home from Horseshoe Lake.
